A good benchmark is 100 children to one photographer. We can provide more than one photographer / White Box mini studio in order to make a shoot quick – by prior arrangement – or we can do the shoot over a series of days. Again, all subject to dialogue with the school / nursery. If you want a shoot doing in one day then you have to be sure there is room for more than one set of equipment (see below).
Read OnYes! This acronym refers to the software developed and distributed by the Capita organisation. It is a pupil / student management system which usually requires a photograph for each record, hence why schools sometimes ask for a SIMS accredited photographer. White Box Photography is accredited, however, schools need to be aware that a SIMS photo is not to be confused with a ‘school photo’. One’s for a computer and one is for parents to keep as a treasured memory! White Box Photography shoots them separately so schools need to make us aware if they require a SIMS shoot as it is a slightly different set up.
Read OnSchools often ask if White Box Photography personnel are DBS checked (formerly Criminal Injuries Board – CRB) which refers to certificates issued by the Disclosure & Barring Service. All White Box photographers ARE subject to DBS checks.
Read OnYes we do! A brother and sister, for example, might be in two different classes. However, the school often likes the opportunity to photograph related siblings together. We are happy to facilitate this if the children are brought to the photographic area by a school representative.
Read OnYes we do! These are popular at all stages of education, however, final year groups are particularly popular as children prepare to leave, hence why schools often request them. We return on a separate shoot day to facilitate them. They are NOT done on the same day as the individual pupil photo sessions.
Read OnProviding there are two photographers using two White Box units at a single venue, this is possible but needs to be subject to a discussion ahead of the shoot day. We have been asked for traditional ‘cloud’ backdrops before, which is fine so long as there is enough demand. We don’t want to be including one such backdrop in a 400 pupil shoot only to find that 11 children want such a background! It means there is then ‘huge’ pressure on the remaining single ‘background’. Not ideal!
Read OnIn boxes and as class groups. Schools can be concerned that they won’t have an admin nightmare on their hands. That’s why they need to be re-assured that all photos will be in ‘class groups’ so that they don’t have to sort through hundreds of individual contact sheets trying to marry them up with individual pupils across the school. Filing of photos into class ‘boxes’ prevents this problems!
